A follow up from my last post.

Urban Remedy actually looks amazing. It isn’t just juices, it’s a detox and cleanse with 2 smoothies, 2 soups and 2 juices a day. The soups are made with stuff like lentils and heavy proteins - awesome! Their website is really informative and corresponds with all my knowledge about good nutrition. It is really well thought out.

I’m in!

The only downside is the price. Having said that, I’ve spent so much money on fads in the past that I feel $195 for a three day flush out is well worth it. I’m going to do a three day level 2.

1. After watching that documentary last night, I’ve woken up with a completely new ‘tude. Rather than worrying about things health related, I’m going to focus on getting the right nutrients in me so the problems don’t exist anymore.

2. Problem 1: extreme gas and a swollen tummy. The experts in the doc said that all overhauls start with a cleansing detox. They like juices packed with extreme amounts of goodies, and gelatinous plant based foods like chia. The gel like substances bond with toxins and flush them out.

I don’t have a juicer, and I also don’t believe my body and active life can handle nothing but juice - so here’s my plan. Try a cleanse like Urban Remedy (pictured) as they pre-make the juices and deliver them to you, and supplement it with masses of plant based foods (nuts and avo for fats, and veggies.) I’m going to set three days aside and get the toxins out. We’ll see if my tum likes it too!

3. Problem 2: hair loss and brittle nails.. I have never thought twice about why my nails crush everytime I open a can, or why my matte hair falls out en masse. Just like skin, it’s due to not having the right nutrients at the end of the chain. I googled a few solutions. After stage one ‘cleanse’ I’m upping my nut intake, particularly brazil nuts.

4. Problem 3: mentality. I need to stop looking at goodies thinking ‘I shouldn’t.’ It only makes me want them more. From now on, it’s ‘I can, but I won’t.’ I also need to fix my group mentality too - I hate feeling peer pressured into poor nutritional choices.

5. Problem 4: the colour spectrum. I eat all my veggies, but not enough, and not nearly enough variety. I’m going to hit the shops this weekend and get a rainbow of fruit and veg and demolish it. It’s a sure fire way to know you’re getting a variety of vitamins.

I’ll make more plans and analyse later, as I have to start work. I also want to talk to my PT about the documentary and his views on my nutrition.

Anyway - time to pick my cleanse days, work out my juices and GET THIS SHOW ON THE ROAD. High-res

Fun Fact!

From Hungry For Change:

Your skin is the best indicator of your health and nutrition. It is the last part of the body to receive nutrients, so if it glows and looks good it means that your nutrition has been sensational. If it doesn’t look great, it means the dregs of the nutrients aren’t good ones.

I find this stuff so fascinating!

I am so motivated after watching this documentary. SO motivated. Superfooding it up tomorrow!

Watching this right now as recommended by my PT. It is excellent. I feel like my food choices have been validated!

Also, it’ll scare you off sugar for a while. I wish I had seen this earlier before I was given donuts at the work morning tea!

EDIT: the stuff on toxins is so informative! WATCH WATCH WATCH!

Forgetting my sports bra was genius, as the new one I got today is ah-mah-zing. CHECK IT OUT! My boosies were strapped down and looked awesome at the same time. Right now, buying workout gear > buying normal clothes. Yep.
I was on fire at work today and I left on a bit of a buzz - which turned into a killer high energy cardio workout! I did a 5km run in super dooper time due to HIIT bursts at 15kmph. I was basically flying!
Workout summary: walks to and from work, 30 minute run, 40 minutes elliptical and cross trainer machine, 10 minutes abs. 960 cals burned today, 700 at the gym.
My boss, who I’m still so socially awkward around, just joined my gym. On one hand, I’m terrified of seeing her out of the office, but on the other I secretly want her to admire my quads. I’m nuts. High-res

1. Forgets sports bra for tonight. Buys new one - no problem. That’s how I roll. Nothing stops my gym plans this week!

2. On the prowl for a sweater dress on my lunch break. This winter I’m nearly 30kg lighter and I’m going to pull one off. TIGHT WOOL WILL HAPPEN.

3. Having a little nut bender at the moment - I crave walnuts and pecans like nobody’s business! Not sure where it’s come from, but it’s a pretty tasty and healthy habit. And off to the nut shop I go.

Happy lunch break! High-res

MBH Does a Daily Overview - 28 May 2012
Food: my usual power porridge; raw golden berry health food ball; leftover pork stew; 2 hard boiled eggs and carrot sticks; and a selection of zucchini slice, mini sandwiches, almonds and dried apricots at a work function.
Exercise: weights, cardio session and walks.
Highlights: my motivation is nice and high, and I ate like a superstar. I’m out to destroy this bloat!
Lowlights: spending $8 on herbal tea bags to discover they smell and taste like feet. Here’s hoping honey can save the day!
Tomorrow: HIIT cardio, and home made broccoli soup. Get those veggies in me! I’d also like to spend my lunch break outside. I miss moving during my lunch hour!

Check out my battle wound! I dropped a dumbbell on my thumb. I was wearing gloves and didn’t realize I was bleeding until I took my glove off later. Oops! Oh well, at least I know I work super hard at my weights tonight - I was even bleeding while I was doing it!
Anyway, me and my thumb powered on afterwards with some cardio. Motivation Monday certainly hit today when my tummy popped out this morning. Time to stop letting work ruin my good habits!
Workout summary: walks to and from work, 30 minutes weights, 40 minutes elliptical and cross trainer machine, 10 minute row. 960 cals burned today, 700 at the gym.
Time to go and cook up a big batch of broccoli soup for work lunches! High-res
